Friday, Friday

Well, did my run/walk today. Just under 2 miles in 28 minutes. It was a stuggle for some reason. Maybe it's because I ran down the hill, easily enough, but coming up; well, coming up, let's just say I didn't run. I know better I really do. I have never run all the way up it, hell I can barely ride my bike up the damn thing; but I keep trying. Other than the hill it wasn't a bad run. Overcast and 45 light breeze. No unusual pains or discomfort.
If I was tracking mileage it'd be just a hair over 11 miles this week. I've been thinking I should track miles, if only for my shoe wear, but it's not high on my list of why I'm running. I'm running, mainly, to lose a few pounds and get in some sorta shape, so I live a long and prosperous life. OK a long life anyway. I've read many running blogs by others and some are fanatical about details and others are like me, not so fanatical. It's interesting to see how, why and what others do. I've learned lots of stuff; some I use and some I've filed away for future reference.
One thing I want to accomplish is run a 5k race. Probably next spring. First to see if I can do it. Second to see if I like it. And third I'm not real sure why. Something to plan or strive for more than anything else. A goal for running besides the physical benefit. But first I need to be able to run a whole mile non-stop, which I've not done. Yet.
One other aspect I need to work on is my diet. I have a bad habit of eating after I get home from work. Just before I go to bed. Bad habit, I know, and I thought I'd gotten over it. But that ITB thing screwed up more than my running schedule. I fell back into an old habit and now I need to get out of it. I don't eat a lot but it's not helping my cause and I feel a tad guilty but that doesn't seem to stop me. My willpower has gone to hell. Another goal to shoot for I guess.
And I'd like to get a bit faster. A 14 minute mile, well, I can walk that fast, usually. Some days I feel like I've made some progress but not often enough. Maybe I'll try for a 11 minute mile. Not fast but certainly faster. So 3 goals tonight that should keep me busy awhile, eh?
OK then that'll do 'er for now. Will run for beer.
